Bold Predictions for Every Major League Team

Here are my bold predictions for 2014. Some are definitely bolder than others. Going alphabetically:

  1. ARI - Archie Bradley will have more wins than any other Diamondbacks starter.
  2. ATL – A healthy Dan Uggla doesn’t log 400 plate appearances for the Braves in 2014.
  3. BAL - Jonathan Schoop will be the Baltimore’s everyday 2B by the All Star break.
  4. BOS – Every member of the Red Sox regular starting lineup will have an OPS+ over 100.
  5. CHC – Junior Lake will hit 20 home runs and SLG .465.
  6. CHW – Paul Konerko retires before the season is over.
  7. CIN - Jay Bruce will end the season as a top 5 fantasy outfielder.
  8. CLE – In his magic unicorn Age 27 season, Jason Kipnis ends the year as the top fantasy 2B by posting 95 R, 22HR, 90 RBI, 30 SB while batting .290 with a .375 OBP.
  9. COL – Gold glove third baseman Nolan Arenado finds his Coors Field stroke and wins the NL batting crown.
  10. DET – Joba Chamberlain saves more games that Joe Nathan.
  11. HOU – Due to the lack of viable options, the Astro’s lone All Star representative will be a relief pitcher.
  12. KC – Future star Yordano Ventura storms through the AL Central on his way to a Jose Fernandez-esque Rookie of the Year campaign.
  13. LAA – Mike Trout will actually win the MVP he’s deserved the past 2 seasons. (Perhaps my boldest prediction)
  14. LAD – Yasiel Puig will spend more than a month at AAA.
  15. MIA – Giancarlo Stanton will hit 25 first half home runs and the Marlins will trade him at the deadline.
  16. MIL – Khris Davis will hit more home runs than Ryan Braun.
  17. MIN – Aaron Hicks breaks out and hits 20 HR and steals 40 bases, all while hitting .280 and getting on base at a .380 clip.
  18. NYM – 41 year old Bartolo Colon posts his 3rd sub-4.00 season in a row.
  19. NYY – Masahiro Tanaka will fail to win 10 games and sport a ERA north of 4.50.
  20. OAK – Jed Lowrie hands over the keys to shortstop in Oakland to Addison Russell by July 1.
  21. PHI – Ryan Howard has one more big power season. He’ll hit 35 HR and drive in over 100 runs.
  22. PIT – Gerrit Cole strikes out over 200 batters and wins 18+ games.
  23. SD – Everth Cabrera is pissed. Billy Hamilton my ass, Cabrera steals 60 bases and doesn’t get suspended for steroids.
  24. SF – The Giants will have 2 of the top 5 Cy Young candidates. Matt Cain will bounce back and 24 year old Madison Bumgarner completes his ascent to the elite ace category.
  25. SEA – Brad Miller continues his rise up the rank of American League shortstops. He’ll finish top 5 in the AL and top 10 in MLB.
  26. STL – Lance Lynn will be the the 2nd best starter in the Cardinals rotation. Shelby Miller and Michael Wacha have a lot of helium, but Lynn is a solid and steady number 2.
  27. TB – Three relievers in the Rays pen will have over 10 saves. There’s no one in that bullpen that I completely trust.
  28. TEX – The Rangers shore up their rotation by putting together a package to land Jeff Samardzjia. This team is in win now mode and they’re thin in their rotation.
  29. TOR – Mark Buerhle doesn’t throw over 200 innings. Can’t get much more bold than that. Thirteen years running Buerhle has logged over 200 innings.
  30. WSH – The only bold prediction about the Nationals this year would be if they didn’t completely run away with the NL East, but I don’t see that happening. They are a complete team that is built to dominate.
